Possible Fuel Injector Damage?
I recently replaced the high pressure fuel pump on my motor, 2.5L EFI and now I have all kinds of issues. After allowing it to run for a few minutes, and noticing it ran poorly, I checked the fuel pressure and it was 85 psi. After cleaning the regulator the fuel pressure is now at spec but the engine still has some serious issues - idles high, runs rough, bogs down at 3000 rpm. Could the excessive pressure have damaged a fuel injector(s)?

Chances of that are extremely low. These are the hose feed style injectors I'm assuming?

I would think a DDT would be helpful .

I would think junk the reg and get a new one and send out the injectors. If you "cleaned" the regulator and it worked something is now in your injectors.

That's what I am now thinking. Ever since I "cleaned" the regulator its been running really bad and progressively getting worse, tons of smoke, high and rough idle and alarms.
Thanks for the input

Have you looked in the rail or had the injectors out? Its never a bad idea to have them cleaned, but to answer your question, no they will not be damaged. Dirty, plugged....probably, but not damaged.

Thanks. I had them out and sent them to be professionally cleaned a few years ago but not after this recent issue. May I ask a follow-up question, Can a faulty or clogged fuel injector be suspected by looking at the spark plugs after only a little bit of time running, maybe less than an hour?
