1993 Skeeter 200SX prop help
Greetings To All,
Anyone out there care to chime in on some propeller help ? I have a 1993 20FT Skeeter bass boat with 175hp EFI Merc and am looking for some help in choosing a new prop. I tried a used Tempest Plus 21 pitch but it seems too large. This prop was literally in brand new condition and had only been used once for a few hours and has no visible damage. I had to remove the trim tab to install this prop. It's 14.6 in width. At idle speed it seems to noticeably vibrate more than the previous prop that I had on it, High 5 - 26 pitch. The Tempest prop had a great hole shot and increased top speed about 5 mph but like I said it seems too large and vibrates more than I'm used to.
I'm wondering if I should try a slightly smaller prop like a Fury, as it is a little smaller and I may be able to reinstall the trim tab. However, it is my understanding that the Fury prop is used mostly on 200hp and higher engines. I'm also looking at the MW Ballistic prop but do not know any of the pros and cons with this prop. My Skeeter is 20 ft and is pretty heavy with full load of two men and 44 gallons of gas so I need some beef to get on plane. The Tempest and High 5 both gave me a good hole shot but I'm also looking for some more top speed. I don't ever really need 44 gallons of gas so I could just do 1/2 tanks or less to lighten the load.
Any help will be greatly appreciated - Thanks !

What rpm were you at with the Tempest and your High 5? High 5's are for waterskiing not for speed, and I'm not sure what a 26" High 5 is for - too much pitch for water skiing.
My go to is used Trophy's. Maybe 20"

This may sound strange but both props were 5000 rpm at WOT. The high 5 ran 48mph and the Tempest ran 53mph both GPS. I'm seriously thinking of ordering a 23p fury. With the hub kit and shipping I'm looking at about $730. The boat did good with the 21p Tempest, except for the vibration, so I'm thinking the 23p will give me another 2-3 mph. Seems to me that my rig should be able to run at least 60 ? By the way, the High 5 prop came with the boat and has a pressed in hub so I'm guessing it's old. Matter of fact I have not seen another High 5 with that high of pitch, 26, anywhere on the internet.

You need more RPM's and Fury's don't have a good top end, but are great in the mid range. I'd try a 19 tempest or another good 3 blade in the 19" range. I think something is wrong, because how are you spinning a 26" high five and a 21" tempest both 5,000 rpms.

Yes that’s why I said it may sound strange on the rpms. I suppose it could be possible that the high 5 was reworked to a lower pitch or something ? Not sure.
Thanks for your input. I will rethink everything and look for a lower pitch prop.
