99 Triton TR18
Picked up a 99 POS Triton TR18 bass boat today. She was involved in a hit and run and knocked the gelcoat off completely down to the fiberglass on the top, side of the boat by the casting platform. If all I want to do is patch it and place a sticker covering it up, what do I need to use to build up the surface?? Should I use epoxy or resin or gelcoat?? I figure gop it on and sand it smooth and cover it??? Thanks

Depending on how much is ground away. If 1/4'' is missing then poly resin and glass. If it's just a 1/16''to 1/8'' and some rash then a thickened gelcote would suffice. Stay away from auto type fillers. They are not up to marine standards. Pics always help if available.

Sorry, not savvy enough to load pictures (love everybody else's tho). Yeah, it is probably only about 1/8th inch, just knocked the gelcoat off, will try gelcoat, thank you.

Thats solid advice. I would just add that if you're going to do gel remember to add some type of surfacing agent(wax, Duratech, etc.) so it will properly cure.
