Astor is not for amateurs!
May need to pay attention to the no wakes zones, and who you threaten while boating.
Two people shot while boating, jet skiing in Astor; both were airlifted

More than likely imported violence. Most of the Jetski crowd and a lot of the “destined for the Glen” boat crowd are from Orlando. Some of the jetski groups resemble ethnic motorcycle gangs. They bring this **** with them.

Mark is exactly right. They ignore the speed zones (25 or 30 mph in Volusia County), and blast through the no wake zones because they know they can't be stopped.
I was talking to a FWC officer a few weeks ago and he said they are the motorcycles of the water. Same problem as on the street, they all look alike and they can all outrun the LEO's.
They stop in a string across the river occasionally like they're going to hold boats up. I just aim for a gap, slow down and go on through. But it can be a little intimidating.\\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\///

Aggressive biker gangs on JetSkis? Good grief thats all we need. For the record I've never had a single problem with a biker in my life, but the ones Ive known dont mess around with the john Q public. These must be little clubs im guessing, minor leaguers?

Experienced the same kind of dis-respectful attitude when camping in the ocala natl forest. Groups of 20+ atv riders being rowdy riding 2 up and such flying by on narrow trails at very dangerous speeds. At night turning the campground into a very loud latin dance party. I'm all for a good time, but these people were out of control. Fwc came with 4 officers and busted some of them for having stolen bikes. It was a circus. I now open carry when camping up there.

Not so much gangs as groups and not necessarily small, one Orlando Facebook group has over 8000 members. In some instances it’s the water equivalent of some of the sport bike groups you see all over youtube doing stunts on busy streets and causing havoc in big cities.
Nothing more than sea lice, what we called them 20+ years ago.Mark

I talked to some of the guys in this atv group and they were very nice. It's the troublemakers that spoil it for the rest as usual. Hard not to roll all of them up in one ball, but it's the same with boaters too. A-ho mentality takes over the group.

Right that makes perfect sense. I too avoid weekend boating whenever possible. The wake board boats are the things I cant stand the most. The jet ski's are annoying but at least they put out small wakes I can traverse with some speed

OK so the story is that a group of one boat and 3 jet skis blew through the slow speed zone in front of Midway Marine in Astor around 5pm Saturday. They were yelled at (and probably given the international sign of distaste) by a father and son in a fishing boat.
The group turned around and went back to the fishermen and a "discussion" occurred. Shots were fired. One person in the group boat was hit in the chest and one person on a ski was hit. There were six guns recovered by LE. The group boat and every ski had one!
Can't find out yet who was offensive and who was acting in defense but the fishermen apparently practice their shooting.
If anyone knows more please chime in.\\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\///
