You should be looking for a Mercury 48-75774. This prop should be a 26 pitch, small ear chopper and there is one on ebay right now. The auction ends at 9pm tonight, 29 Aug. Not mine, and it wasn't a bother. And, do you think that may be a little steep for your 13 footer??

I honestly don't know if it's right. Several people recommended that in various forums, it's a guess until it goes in the water. Better bet to start with the 24?
Edit (SNIP): A few 48-77320-24 on ebay. I know first prop is likely not the keeper, but rather not put on first that I can't carry at all.

I have a Checkmate MX14 with a 1971, 15 inch, 115 Merc with some 135 horse carbs I need to install. I have an 18, 20 and 22 pitch small ear chopper. The part numbers are 48-75766A4, 75768A4, 75770A4, so you see the part numbers go up by 2's, these are for Merc inlines. Good luck Chief. oops, found another 26p on ebay, but he's proud of it.

I have a 75hp Merc inline four which is basically a tower of power with two holes lopped off far as I can tell. I started with a 22 chopper and worked it to well past 6000RPM which was fast but uncomfortable rpm for me with that old stock motor. I stepped up to a cupped 24 chopper and it was perfect, until this week and I’m now spinning that one to 6k as well so I don’t think a 26 is out of range for a 13’ 115

    my hull is 14’

Ive got a a half dozen choppers now. Pending how they are worked they behave very different running full out. The amount of cup is directly tied to the amount of lift I can achieve. I have a 26 big ear im going to see if I can fit on my 75 next LOL I doubt its going to work but im going to try. Anyways have fun with it, be safe

Yeh that's the fun part of tuning in. When I get close enough I'll work with a prop shop to work the prop that is closest to right, unless I get lucky . Funny note, on FB, right after someone posted they had a 140 merc on the same hull, poster got uppity and said 50hp was the max and anything over was needlessly dangerous. lol. Wanted to ask what life was like in the slow lane.

Its a lot of motor for a 13' hull im still amazed how fast I can get this 14' running with this 75 but I have a 140 Johnson and a couple V6 mercs sitting here that im sure one or the other will find its way onto this thing someday. I can see you definitely get it re "the fun part of tuning it in" I couldnt agree more. Gains are the juice in this game, enjoy getting yours

So Fever, what are you doing that you keep gaining rpm and speed and keep needing higher pitch, set up or engine mods??? And thanks for the pics.

Hey Chief, you ready for a road trip? On Fort Lauderdale craigslist, there is a 48-75772 Merc chopper prop listed in Boynton Beach for $250. Listed as a 14x24 chopper. It looks pretty good in the picture. I flew down from Cincinnati to Lauderdale for vacation and bought a 20 pitch chopper off of this guy, talker from New York with his gold chains. I wonder what TSA thought about that prop in my checked luggage???

Nothing fancy. Motors stock, tuned up tip top. Fresh plugs, stator, all hoses/fuel lines and whatnot are good. I run premium non ethanol fuel and thats it for motor. I raised the motor up a hole at a time until the boat was undriveable and added water scoops to the pick up. went back down a hole and took the plates off and use the trim to air it out. It took a lot of wheel time to control it there because the motors on rubber mounts but now I can trim out of control and still bring it back under grip. I did add SeaStar Pro hydraulic steering this year which made a massive improvement. Its from my Viking I was planning on taking it off but now I learn theres this Tournament ram SeaStar sells thats better so I might leave the pro on the vandal and get that for the Viking. We'll see

I want to restore the Vandal too before I add any more power its ok, but not as good as I want it to be for 75+
