1995 Merc 2.5 200 XRi dead spot in power

Noticed around 4k rpms my motor has a dead spot in power, takes about 2'' more pedal (hot foot) to over come the dead spot then it has a surge of power and pulls hard. The motor starts, idles and comes out of the hole fine it's just that 4k dead spot. It doesn't lose power just acts like it won't rev more until you give more pedal. Had a guy on a facebook page say he has the exact same motor with the same problem and his ended up being weak magnets in the flywheel. Said after replacing with a used one his problem went away. Just curious if anyone here had any advice. Thanks

so are you sayin that at half throttle you get to 4000 and nothing happens for the next half of the throttle till basically its floored, then the revs increase?

No, once getting to 4k I have to press the hot foot about 2 or 3 inches before it revs up anymore. Once I overcome that threshold it feels like a boost of power and pulls you back in the seat and runs normal to 6000. I've never had a motor do that is what's puzzling.

I'm not a marine tech by no means, how might a person fix the issue?

Replace TPS and set it at .25 volts.
