    Merc V6 identification HELP!

    Hive Mind,

I just picked up an 88 Charger SK which had a Mod VP on it. It still has the single ram mid and 2 hole CLE on it. I've been told the powerhead has been replaced but I"m not sure with what. WH-22 carbs, pics below. Any help is appreceiated.

You may find a designation such as EE, FF, or whatever combination. Stamped in the port side at the parting line tween block and cover.

the first pic is the split line, there's 1 9 and what look like X on the back half and 1 3 on the front.

I should have looked closer. All I can tell from the pics is a 2.4 of some sort. The wh22 was sort of a hot rod carb but who knows. Good luck.

Is there a chance it's the original MOD-VP powerhead? (It quite easily hits 6900 rpm, I haven't pushed it higher then that) Where is the date code and I can verify the last number?

look here for a "build date".... 1/8" stamped numbers, m/d/yr... may be on tha flange or at base of cylinder on block... not much chance at all.. .. due to oiler means "production motor"... but it is same as tha unpainted high performance "oval port" block... tha original may have been a horn motor since its only got half of tha throttle and timing arm from high performance motor...

Looks like the build date is 8 24 94. Maybe it's a bit of a frenkenmerc.Click image for larger version.
