I don't see it as a mistake. $hit happens. There are those that have gone around and those that will!

Facebook as ruined Forums. There are so many dead forums out there because everyone turns to facebook groups for information. They aren't all bad but there is a lot of misinformation posted daily.

I wish I had a video of when I put a drag plat on my viper. I was ripping around and did a standard U turn and canned it half way through the turn, not too tight or too fast but I went right around and did a 180 and a bunch of water came in when I was backwards! haha. These boats will let you know what they don't like, and hopefully you don't get hurt when they tell you! haha. But yes, it will happen most likely if your trying to push and learn the boat. I never did a real hook yet, but have has some good ones that get you off into another direction quickly! That is half the fun is the pucker moments. If that was not fun I would have a pontoon!
I wonder how many on FB would tell me I am an inexperience boater and don't know what I am doing, or how dangerous I am, or whatever. hahahahaa.Last edited by rjdubiel; 08-04-2021 at 08:22 AM.

I'll tell you what one mistake was. It's the same one I've been making for the last 20 years. The lake I use for prop testing is just too damn narrow. I've used it for 40+ years, but as my speed has gone up, I've become more aware of how fast I'm traveling and how quick I could be on the beach or in the trees if something went wrong. Something to think about, but many of us are limited by geography and access to the type of water we'd prefer to run on.
I could comment on some other things but everybody's a goddamn genius after the fact. I'm sure that event got your attention and you're a little wiser today.Living in the Freedom provided by Bud Conner and his fellow warriors.

And people with no "I almost died" stories are pretty useless to me, and generally don't entertain me at all

Having a narrow escape used to be a learning experience to be shared. Now it's just fodder for the crack pots that have never "been there done that".

And this was exactly why I wanted to share it. I know everyone is a tough guy behind a keyboard. But never expected the complete ignorant comments on S&F's page. So many say oh inexperience, well yeah, no sh*t. How are you supposed to get experience without making mistakes and learning. Common sense is dead.
Yeah the river is a little narrow here, but its the best body of water I have to let the boat stretch its legs.
Should've lifted sooner and slowed up, should've trimmed down, the hull doesn't like a cleaver. Lots of things went wrong. But come out of the other side smarter.'78 Hydrostream Viking/'98 225 ProMax

When in doubt throttle out! Scary ride for sure. I do not like chopping the throttle when up on the pad its very unsettling with out any wave action to make it even worse.

This is why I chose a deep barrel back seat design. You have to stay in the seat to drive. The original seats were flat and prob slick with protectant. It's all good nothing hurt, just check that off the list of crap you lived thru.
