Cylinder head temp sender water temp gauge?

Any insight into what sort of reading to expect? I'm seeing 210 on the water temp guage using the regular temp sender thats on the cylinder head. Not in a water jacket.

Think that reading is way off. Certainly hope so. I'll get a regular temp gauge this week.

Yea most gauges take the little brass sender that you drill and tap the head. If you hook to the stock sensor in the head, yeah it will read way hot when it’s really not.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking and hoping. I need to get a water temp sender, drilll and tap, or get a guage designed to read the sender that sits in the head.

The current gauge is a Livorsi water temp gauge hooked up to the sender that sits in the pocket in the head. So they aren't really matched to one another.

To close this out for anyone else in the same situation, Livorsi says that if you have the 250 degree max temp gauge, they can recalibrate it to work with the dry sender in cylinder head pocket. If you have the 280 max temp gauge, no dice.

Or you can install a water temp sender by drilling and tapping into the head.

You dont need to have a matched sender for livorsi or any other guage. a normal temp sender on the head would work it. but NOT the sender for a buzzer, they go off at totally different temp.. . get a sender from any car shop or ebay they are dirt cheap and only need a single wire up to the dash.....
