Yeah the switchboxes don't care about stator amperage. Same boxes work on 9, 16 & 40 amp systems.

Would be between cdi or blue cdi. Anyone think the difference matters on basically stock setup?

The blue ones work OK on our everyday stuff,as I have used them and seem to be Ok..Not using them on my race engines,,, the cheaper ones are junk...

I use only merc hipo electronics on my drag engines,,,there are 2 types of hipo stators one for the early 2.4s and one for the later 260 and 300 drag.Same thing with power pacs.. merc coils are the best there is for the money.
Forkin,,,yes there are extra capasitors in switch box,,,,,and yes merc stuff is over priced but if you wanna win??????????

    Scope is a good idea.
I think the trigger is weak. As it wouldn't pass CDI voltage output tests. Though I looked back and it's a pro marine trigger and i couldn't get anyone on the phone who might know the test spec.

Also I read a post in the archives from Chris Carson about bad key switches killing switchboxes with strat voltage on the kill wire. I had replaced my engine harness recently for that very reason. So if that's true and it sounds reasonable enough, then my switch boxes have been thru the ringer.

Unfortunately my parts didn't get here yesterday. I have both a new trigger and blue boxes coming. I will change boxes first and retest. Will change trigger also even if boxes fix it.
