    Small Light Boat Battery

I'm looking for a good choice on this to save weight and space. Don't run stereos, fish finders etc, just starting and running.

    Any suggestions?

Seems like a jet ski battery would be best. Engine: Merc 225 bridgeport 2 stroke

I'm running a East Penn DEKA AGM 16L. 16-17 lbs. They are also private labeled and sold everywhere under a wide variety of "house brand" names.

    Its an interesting story

You can find all the specs on East Penn's website.

The CCA and Reserve times are conservative. I put mine it a small ammo box and put one of those little DC Volt meters on top of the box to keep an eye on it. It has worked amazingly well for me and has saved me 20-30 lbs of transom weight.

    Thank you for this information.

I'm rebuilding the area of the boat where the battery goes so I need a good design. Right now there are some "firing strips" that form a big box. I'm thinking of getting rid of all this and just going to a hold down base. Didn't find too much on the web but I did find this 3D printed version. MIght be able to design a better one

I’ve run these type of batteries for years on a 2.5 16 amp charging system.
The odyssey PC 625 weight is somewhere around 11 pounds. The bat cap is somewhere around 9 pounds. I have a standard size plastic battery holder with a high density foam all around the battery to reduce vibration it’s also extremely light.

I use the series 51 battery. A standard automotive battery that goes in Accord/Camry. Only weighs 26 lbs. You get an automotive warranty.

It is top post battery so just install the marine adapters. Plenty of CCA and reserve. Been using them on v6 Mercs for years

I second this one and they last a long time as well. Still have an Odyssey thats about 12 years old still working as a shop battery.
