time sert insert (install question) little help guys
Trying to install time sets in aluminum heads. I was ready to install inserts. Watched a u tube video. It states that a "time sert" tap was needed. Same thread size but thicker shoulders? Unfortunately I have all ready used standard spark plug tap. With under one half inch of threads I don't see that it will make a big difference. I have cut the washer area for the washer type insert and have the driver tool to install the insert. You guys that have experience using these, am I missing something or can I go ahead and install the insert? I have screwed the insert in a short distance and it seems to go in with no trouble.
Thanks in advance for any advise.
