    Buying a new boat can be a huge mistake — here's why

    “The average price for a personal watercraft has hit $13,000 as sales of new boats surged 40% in the past year.

    Due to shipping delays, boat dealers are seeing timelines as long as three to six months. For special orders, the timeline can be even longer.”

    ~~~
    Demand has exceeded supply and the sale prices increases.
    And if they are like the new cars and trucks QC went out the window. Getting a used boat and repowering it is making much more sense.
    Two years to get a new MTI, or Skater, over a year to get a new PlayCraft tri-toon, over a year for a new Nor-Tech, over a year for a new Freemen. Then you need to plan ahead for your power and truck because none of them are available either.... What a world we have created
    I refuse to buy anything new anymore............cars, trucks, or boats. They arent worth the money they ask. And people are stupid enough to spend the money for them and keep it going. I priced a stripped 1500 Ram truck two days ago(just curious to see how bad it is). The truck didnt have carpet. I ordered a spray liner and hitch pckg for 800 and a locking diff for 450. I did opt for the Hemi instead of a v6 for 2000(roughly). It came up to 41,000 dollars!!!!! That truck isnt worth that much nor did it cost Dodge anywhere near that price. I bought a new truck in 2000 and 2010. It was 19,000 in 2000, 32,000 in 2010 and now 41,000 in 2021. No way...........never again. Boats are in the same category.
    For a guy willing to do a little work on a boat(not recoring or stuff like that), you can get a decent deal if you look around. Bass boats are just plain stupid now. All boats are just plain stupid........new prices. Just my 2 cents.....
    Last time I bought a new vehicle was 1989. I swore never to buy new again. I've bought one new boat, said the exact same.
    Is the price going up, or the value of the dollar going down? Both,I'm sure. My last new car was 1985 Mustang GT 5.0, 5 speed. My favorite. But I have had a few new snowmobiles. It's all about priorities.
    Snowmobiles are definitely priorities up here in the Great White North but BRP is totally sold out of '22 Ski-Doo's!
    I ordered a new tritoon last August and it came in the end of December. Surprisingly the trailer was the hold up. That never came in until the end of March.
    My nephew has a new boat on order - new is looking good compared to sky rocketing used boats. My brother is pricing a new Grandsport for the same reason.
