Capt. Insane O sent me a handful of pics, I can't specifically answer this question, but I can tell you that it looks like it had carbon build up EVERYWHERE.

Ive seen similar issues with fresh built engines running premium synthetic oil. The rings dont set properly if the lube is too slippery. This is in auto four stroke stuff mind you but the concept is the same you need to set the rings up good, its the final machining process. You figure thats what happened here?

Wow! Now that is dedication! Kudo's to you. That is a lot of grit and determination.

The starboard side pistons got replaced almost twice as often. After a race I’d leak it down and if it was sketchy I’d pull that piston and replace it

No idea how long it's been sitting or if oil 'goes bad' so I don't plan to run it through the 280 when I get it back from Capt.Insane-O.

In the meantime since we discovered some minor knicks in my nic and are sending block out i picked up a POS boat that had a 200 EFI on it to salvage some summer. I am in the midst of removing the oil injection and think I'll burn this stuff in that.

*Unless one of you says that is the stupidest idea ever and I should throw it in the trash as fast as humanly possible.

You'll be fine running off the rest of that oil in the 200. Premix away....and enjoy the day!

Should I run it a little lighter (50-1) to avoid the carbon build up?

motor is currently and will remain bone stock minus oil injection for the life of this oil anyway.

No. You just need to find a more suitable oil.

Not a clue. Looks like I’ll keep and run it in my blower/weed whip and get some pennzoil for the 200
