True story Chaz......Rookie's start in the tunnel ... go in one end , roll out the other ...

Now look at the &^%$&**^$ mess you made ....
My 1st boat building job at Shamrock boats waaay back in 1976 was to GRIND the bilges, clean and gelcote them before rigging. Did it suck? You betcha! Did I quit? Oh, hell no. Eventually got a nice job in the tooling shop and learned a crap load about building molds and layup. They stuck you in the bilge to see if you were serious about working there.

Thirty years ago you could insure and finance an STV or Skater. Those days are gone so unless you are paying cash, you are out. I couldn't have done many things without the banks approval when I was in my 20s and 30s but today that option is off the table. Not to mention I worked my ass off to have and maintain the stuff I had at that age.

Today's world offers a young guy with no experience the chance to make 80K and learn while doing it but its a ton of hours and not enjoyable.

LOL .. yea buddy , I was the "weld prep" kid that wore out many grinders on packing house and field farm equipment .. in the dust or mud ... didn't matter
And this morning I repaired a unobtanium magnesium Porsche case that spit a bone out at Road America last weekend ..

Chaz = I'd pay good money to see J.P. take a "tunnel lap" on the red rocket ...

In @ 11 , lunch with Doug and Scott from 12 till 2 , home by 3 for a nap .. then it's out for a dinner run with da bouyz .. @ 4 to catch the senior special ..

Me ... I'd go in the tunnel far enough to find the escape hatch .. pop inside for a nap .. have me a dive tank ready ... I've breathed in enough poison already ..

Speakin of senior special .. I'm gonna make me a fried ham-egg-n-cheese-sammich wiff chocolate milk ... and go back to bed .. 11 am comes awful early ..

All ball-bustin aside ... only young guys that came to work for me answered one question correctly .. yes sir , I have a two year old .. and one in the oven .
Funny how wanting to be a responsible dad .. get's their attention

I'm serious about dat sammich ...

I'm a fairly young guy myself at 33. No kids for me yet. But to add to your point, some of the more successful guys I know are the ones who had kids young. Funny how some of the biggest F-ups I knew in high school are now some of the most stable hard working guys out there. They got the news of the kiddo coming along, dropped the BS, got into a trade and bust their ass everyday to provide.

Also, its always fun to repair a part that can no longer be bought
