    3.6 GT V8 in race car - torque/hp V's RPM needed

Hi - Pleased to say the Evinrude E300CXCUR engine is powering the sports car VERY well.

Currently I have the standard power head installed, not the race version.

I am trying to re-set the CVT transmission to this engine and it would help - save me a lot of time if anyone has a print out of a dyno test of an "Out of the box" V8.

    Thanks

Doesn't seem like you are getting a lot of responses, so this is what I have to offer up. This was the dyno sheet from my 4.0 liter Monty Racing V8 with mid-bore carbs. It's a bit hotter than a stocker, but I'd imagine the curve are similar to stock as to where peak hp/tq is made. This was his "lake motor" setup for a heavy boat.

I’ve been holding back on my “guesses” compared to what you’re looking for but after seeing Keiths post I think he might be close.

For stock, I’d take 1000 RPM off of both horsepower and torque curves.

I’ve intentionally left your thread alone hoping that Racer/Al Stoker would reply.

He’s probably your best bet on this site for an actual Dyno curve.
    Try sending him a PM.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

The graphs aren't the greatest (nor my scan) but this is straight from an SAE paper OMC published when the V8 was released. I agree something from Al would probably be best but Keith cool information you've got there too.

    Hi All

MANY THANKS for your replies/info, it will help a lot in the CVT fine tuning. I did PM Al, but his old files are elsewhere.

Remember that the 3.6's were ported to be higher strung than the 4.0's in stock form. I bet my graph is pretty similar to a 3.6, just a bit higher in power/torque output.

Sorry I dont have any 3.6 dyno sheets here at home they are in storage out in Ca. What I did find was a stock 4.0 with the idle hole plugged off. Also not all dynos even when calibrated will read the same due to things like exhaust system room air etc. That being said this engine had torque peak at 4500 and peak HP from 5500 to 6250. From memory the 3.6 peak torque was at 5000 stock and peak HP from 6000 to 6600. Hope this helps.

Thanks Racer for your input. At least I have got the power head running correctly now that I have solved the problems with the Mikuni SBN carbs. NOW I can tune the CVT. Then we can race with max performance.

Many have responded to the dyno results you asked for, so going back to the CVT, how are you're weights set up as far as when the powerband of this beast hits?

Hi - Here is the car getting off the startline at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb. Parts of the hill are 1 in 6 gradient, so still fine tuning the CVT: https://www.facebook.com/peter.hubba...75129/?__cft__[0]=AZXsFBuYtEb4cjwvo6DMHG4lcCdW2MUnPXSsrDaDtukBpiBlfyPWNUmM6k0Iqz1o-fmDbyiEIE6lX0z7gfREjNKtwbyBX7nshc7UrCHc4ABXRDjxkz4WhenM5FCRgfTodT7T7icAhxIPKPvR6MV7AhkvjI64tQzjrB26x mn4wI7h9XBHj6NKowSzJwgOXSO47XwI9LhTaRVwc-wXopSf9GPr&__tn__=-UK-R
