    1993 Bullet 19vee set up

Hello Everyone, new to the site. I just purchased a Bullet 19vee 1993 model. Wondering what your thoughts are about placing a 2001 Johnson 225 H0 on it? Any idea about how to set up, and potential top speed?Click image for larger version.

Anyone have opinions, or advice? Should I move this to a different area on the website?

Depends how heavy that Johnson is, I have a '90 20vee that I temporarily put a 3.0 Merc 225 EFI on. Motor weighed around 490lbs, I had to put 100lbs of sand under the front deck and install a hydrofoil to get the boat to run right and set level in the water. All in all it wasn't worth it, the vee hulls were never meant to have a heavy motor on them because they don't have the third brace in the transom like the mid 90's bullets do. The perfect motor for a vee boat is a 2.5 v6. Anything around 400lbs or under would move that boat plenty fast enough. I just repowered with a '95 XRi 200, motor is sub 400lbs and allowed me to remove the sand bags from the deck and shed around 200lbs all together.

Maybe a little late but what Sam Hain has said is true. For one, Bullet had a warning decal on them up until 95/96 that stated NOT to put on a heavy motor (3.0L or larger). They added a third transom brace in 95/96 which changed that. The light weight of those boats make them run great with a 2.5L. Finally, I'm a Bullet guy thru and thru, have been since 1992. I fish, but in my younger days I also wanted the speed you could only get from a Bullet/Allison/ Stroker bass boat. Now much older I like to have the power/speed when needed but I also care more about the fishing. That being said, putting an old Johnson on a Bullet is no different than putting an inline 4 banger in a Vette!! If you want speed, and guessing you do since you bought a Bullet, then why put on something you will not be happy with!!
