Called Summit to get return going, and they ASSURED me that they would get the right pump this time. We will see. Gonna go ahead and call Bosch to have a back up plan.

So talked to Summit again. They're saying that the 044 isn't in production anymore. That this is the updated model. The new model is 0 580 464 150. Contacted Bosch and they verified.

Actually the 044 has better flow rate 80 GPH. The 984 flows 43 GPH The max psi is the same however the 044 does draw more amperage. If you’re running the stock 260 with a 39 psi regulator the 984 is plenty. Somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember a stock 260 EFI at wide-open throttle consumes 29 gallons an hour. I’m running a drag motor with 56 psi and the 984 is fine.

It had the 984. For some reason I decided to switch to a 044, so that's what I ordered, but they sent a different pump. Contacted Bosch and they said the 044 is not in production anymore. This is the replacement for the 044.

I don’t know if I really helped that much but in any case stay safe out there. Let us know how it runs.

Man I learned a ton! Learning how to check the timing and just navigate around these motors a little more has been great. Also made a connection with some local racers that's helped out a ton, Jeff and Suzy Sheppard. Will do as soon as I get it where it needs to be!

The Merc 260 and drag motors are the simplest motor I’ve rebuilt or worked on. Now the cost of parts is a whole different thing.

Ok, finally got the fuel system put back and took it out yesterday. Initial run up to the beach, it seemed the exact same. No change at all. When I went to leave, I got about half way back to the ramp, and the motor just came alive! It was night and day difference! It's raining today, so I didn't get to go back out. Just curious what in the world changed??

You mean it has no RPM? Do you have pyrometers? Were you cruising and then all of a sudden it just took off with a bunch more RPM? A few years back a friend of mine had a problem similar to yours and it was the ECU box. Check the connections to the ECU box. The only time I had a problem similar to yours was low voltage. (Side note) I thought I had 10” set back on my Mirage, it has 8 inch.

Right! Lower RPM it is decent but wouldnt turn over 4000ish rpms. I even stuck a smaller prop on it to see, exact same. Then coming back, i kicked it a little bit, and it night and day different. I halfway wonder if the ECU hose was still partially blocked somewhere or something, then cleared out. It's very weird. It's a Brucato box on it. They serviced it in 2018. I planned to send it back this winter to check it. I double checked all the connections while cleaning up some wiring mess.

If it’s a stock 260 and you know someone who has the same type box maybe they will let you try it?

As far as I know it's stock! I have pyrometers but they aren't working as of now. I need to take care of that too. Unfortunately I don't. Most the guys around here run jet boats. It's a super weird thing. Gonna head out tomorrow and see what happens
