Yes... loosen the screw(s) to move the pointer to 25* after you set the piston 0.150" before TDC.

Let's just go ahead and make America great again!

Correct! Top dead center 0° BACK the motor off to 150,000 that will be 25 degrees.

If you mark the fly wheel for all six cylinders that will be called indexing the fly wheel.

That way you can check the timing at all cylinders make sure your system is firing properly. If you have a hole that is firing too early that can cause a major problem ( detonation)if it’s firing too late you’re losing power. If there is a problem the first suspect is switch boxes.

Ok gentlemen, FINALLY got my dial index. This is what I found after indexing the number cylinder. It looks fairly close to lined up, but not quite. Does the matter? Or do I mark the flywheel where it ended up. And go from there?

Did you use the dial indicator to find top dead center and then adjust your pointer at zero? It looks like it’s about 24°?

Yes got it to TDC and the pointer was dead on 0. Rotated counter clockwise 150,000 and that's where the pointer ended up in comparison to the 25° mark.

Check the clear tube that goes to the ecu if there’s any fluid in it or blockage it will go full rich. Also make sure the barb in the horn is clear.

I have checked the horn barb. It's clear! Haven't checked out the hose to ECU yet. Will do that today.

I would loosen the screw(s) and move the pointer so it lines up with 25*... the zero mark is not important.

Let's just go ahead and make America great again!

Just stuck spark tester on, got strong spark on all 6. Timing light shows it firing on 25°with timing arm opened all the way up

Now do that same procedure ( 0….25 )on number 2 3 4 5 6. It’s a pain I know but it will let you know if you’re firing properly at the remaining cylinders.

Just finished repeating the steps on the other 5 holes. All 6 appear to be firing dead on 25°. It is a pain, but wanted to make sure! So timing doesn't appear to be an issue

Just pulled the hose of the horn for the ECU. The little barbed elbow is completely gummed up! Gonna get that thing cleaned up! Hoping this makes a big difference.

It will be night and day difference. The motor will idle pig rich if any of those lines are clogged because the vacuum disappears and the ECU is telling the injectors to go full rich. The boat will run at wide-open throttle but at lower RPM and idle it will be pig rich.

You should be able to depress the throttle and have a slight bit of play before the butterfly opens that will give you somewhere between 2— 4 degrees of advance timing.

It will be like a new motor. Make sure that barb is clear. Be easy on the trim put the motor 1” above go up 1/8” at a time until you lose water pressure. Put a good Jacket on have someone on a chase boat for testing. Flat is fast don’t mess with the timing less is more with the fuel these days. It should still go mid teens with a 28-30 pretty easy.

This is part of the hose I cut out. Sucker was stopped plumb up. Cleaned it out with a piece of coax, and some air. It's flowing good now. I've got quite a few props to try on it. 14x28 cleaver, 14.5x30 cleaver, 14x26 drag, 14x22 drag. Have only run it with the 30 cleaver so far. Obviously didn't like it too much the way it was running.
