    MERCURY 225 efi DRIVESHAFT HOUSING

2001 mercury 225 efi 3.0, I only need to replace the "lower" exhaust plate gasket can I just remove the foot and drop down the driveshaft housing and not remove the power head?

Being a 2001, changing all the mid section gaskets is a good idea........... And as Chaz said..... nope, it has to come apart from the top down. Plus, the powerhead studs go down through the housing.

I had the power head off and replaced the motor mounts and upper and lower exhaust gasket but when I put it back together had no water to the heads. Removed the power head and found I was sold the wrong gasket so I replaced it again. Reassembled still no water will go up to the heads even with a water hose directly on the water pump tube running up. All I can guess is somehow the lower gasket is also blocking it? Thank you very much for the input,

    Fiddy-99 ,

This is the correct lower gasket ..

This is the correct powerhead base gasket ...

If you have the above correct .. then chances are pretty good the inner seat is goobered up or the diaphragm is torn ..

Sorry for the delay almost gave up on the motor and parked it. I have since has Chris Carson rebuild the powerhead and change the water impeller. My alarm still goes off after running it about 3 - 5 min and it goes into limp mode. The head temp is only 164 and I changed the water temp sensor,
