    drag motor production dates

    did Mercury start production of the 300 drag motors in 1997? I know the end date was 2005

    Not my specialty, but I don't think the end date was 2005/2006. That was the end date in the US for recreational use high emissions 2strokes. Pretty sure those drag and F1 motors were still made a while after that for race teams.

    The S3000 originally Came out in 1994 as a F1 Left hand Rotation Motor. Mercury Took the S3000 and made it a Right hand Rotation engine installed a different ECU with a 11500 Rev limit Marketed it as the 300 Drag in 1997. Prior to that The Drag was a 260 Block coded LL. The 260 PP coded block was the offshore version.

    No complete 300 Drag or S3000 F1 packages were available after 2005. But mercury still had available Replacement Blocks. For how long? Im not sure.

    A complete factory 2014 Drag? Or just a powerhead? Ill stand corrected. But My two dealer Buddies couldnt even get one.

    Power head the 1996 was a complete motor, to be fair it is date stamped mid 1996 and I don’t recall what the midsection said for year. 2005 was the last year for complete
    2023 TUFF 25

    2014 was that last year you could buy a drop on drag or a drag block from mercury drop on price was $15,000
