Jet boats like Sea Doo

I boat in salt water that at times has sea weed. When I had my jetskis, you had to jump in the water and pull the eel grass out of the intakes if you ran into a patch of it. With Sea Doo and yamaha jet boats, do you have to do the same thing or is there cleanouts inside the engine hatch? Thanks, MIke

Some of the newer SeaDoo boats have the "weedless system" but there is no way of accessing the tunnel or grate from inside the boat. As far as I know all SeaDoo & Yamaha jet boats use the same grate, tunnel & pump design as the PWC's. RR

I have the same problem in the Keys. Our SeaDoo has the reverse option on it and if we get sea grass sucked in we just put the machine is reverse mode and give the throttle 1 or 2 quick blips. The seagrass gets expelled most of the time, not always but most of time. If not, jump overboard and pull grass out with engine off for safety.
