Look at the silver round Welch plug on top of block between the flywheel and the exhaust plate. Your serial number should be there. Or yank a head and measure the bore
1990 Shadow bass boat w/ 2.4 200 Merc. Totally resto'd boat and love it!

The numbers on the W plug and the clamp are the same, which come up as a 86 175.. but doesnt say anything about displacement.. and from what i understand the 2.4 had 3.5 inch bores, and the 2.0 had 3.115 bores, this 3.375 is whats throwing me off on the heads.
Btw, the serial is 0B220637, where can i find the displacement? Or is a year thing?

3.5" = 2.5 liter. Those are 2.4 liter heads

don't know??? every 175 i've seen/had (not many, think 3) since '86 were 200 block halves.... that was tha only reason i had 'em, spare 200's.. add horizontal, 20's/22's, 46's and wal la, 200.
shoulda added that most tha 175's run as good are almost as good as tha 200 depending on what ya set it up for.....Last edited by tlwjkw; 06-11-2021 at 11:36 AM.

Weird. I'll take pics of my 2.0 175s whenever I go back by the shop.

I know when you run the serials they don't come up in mercnet/EZ Parts Catalogue. I wouldn't doubt if it was a Mariner only thing or something...they had extra 2.0 blocks and just sold them on the Mariner line? Who knows.
I do know the pair of 175 2.0s I have right now are twins that were rigged on this boat new in 1989 and then came off three years or so ago when we rigged twin 150 fourstrokes on this boat. Bone stock motors with 2000+ hours on them, never rebuilt. He traded them in and I ran one for two years and the other has just sat.
