Bobs Flats Jack
Has anyone ever drilled and pinned a jack plate for long hauls? I've got a 300xs hanging back there and want to travel 1250 miles to Lake Champlain and don't want to find out too late that something let go.
With my set-up i have the outboard trimmed all in and the jack full up.
Bobs said not to worry about it but I do.
I cannot see any issue with drilling a 5/16 hole on each side and running bolts through then letting the pressure off the hydraulics.
Opinions? Thanks.1998 22' Progression 300XS

I haven't heard of anyone doing this but can't see how it would hurt anything. You'd basically be turning it into a manual type jackplate

I don't know that 2 5/16 dia. bolts through aluminum are gonna hold up a jack plate and 300x

Just trailering 1250 not a problem
..Don't worry about it went 2800 miles in 2 1/2 days
With motors jacked all the way up and didnt move At all ..
Have cmc Jack plates but don't think it makes a difference..
but could put a piece of wood thru the slots and let the motor down just on it so its sitting on the wood..
Just so your not drilling holes.
same thing (idea) we would do traveling to hold the motor up trim wise w a 2x4 then tied to keep from bouncing
Plates in good condition if you have a 300 on it...
If plate was older in crap shape even then I'd still say the wood is plenty..LETS GO BRANDON.... LETS GO BRANDON

I thought of the wood. The Bobs has a stop tab inside the box. I may try placing a piece of wood between that and the lower crossmember. I know the lower crossmember will carry the load since the bottom of the ram is mounted to it. Just not sure if the stop tab is up to the load.

Click on it to enlarge you can see the white line..
Yea I mean just slide a 2x8 cut to the..5 1/4"+- in there didn't have a pic with them up but you get the idea.
And that's really for piece of mind they won't fall..BUT I makes you sleep better or not stressing while your driving it's quick and easy to do so..
Wasn't sure if I was clear in the first postLETS GO BRANDON.... LETS GO BRANDON

Spoke to BOB's and they stated the stop tab is fastened by 2 1/2-13 SS screws installed in the shear direction.
Same size fasteners on the swivel at the top of the ram. Should be fine.1998 22' Progression 300XS
