    Nmea 2k

Has anyone found a way to convert an analog tach signal to NMEA2k? I see they have a water pressure sensor, and a temp sensor... The tach would be the last key to removing all gauges and flushing a HDS9 in the dash..

Or has this proven not possible?!

My only issue with that setup is, im only using 1 motor, so the dual mota setup would be a waste.. I found the PC11 box from Noland, which will do it.. but was looking more along the lines of an arduino as the a/d convertor.

Maretron, but I don't know if they have something that will work on an outboard tach signal. I put one in a boat with an analog Yanmar without their display, just using a Garmin.

Could you do a smartcraft installation? That would work well. Might be a way of integrating with the Lowrance from there.

In my opinion it would be kinda pointless to do a smart-craft install on a carb merc v6. I've toyed with the idea of doing to a 260 or 280...upgrading all the sensors and such...but I don't think its worth it on a low hp one. And even on higher hp, why not just go all independent senders to a data logger at that point. I have messed with the misc. analogue to nmea 2000 sensors to integrate stuff on my boat with my Garmins and Smartcraft, they work real well. But as you said they have all the basic stuff like temp senders, fluid level, pressure etc. for not that expensive, but no one makes an independent analogue tach to nmea 2000 sender. Maybe its time to make one...
