pro max overheating
I have a 1996 pro max 225 it was running fine then started running hotter still pumping good water switched lower units for one with newer water pump problem is worse replace thermostats next ???

no motor well cared for lots of fogging oil but it ran good for about 30 miles then started to overheat its a new motor to me but was well cared for by previous owner

What is water pressure at idle, 4000rpm and WOT?

water pressure low at idle just 3-4 lbs higher rpm around 10 up to 12 seems low but water really dumps out of tell tale

You can check stats by pushing open and stick a piece of tag wire in open spot. Suspend in a pot of water, have thermometer in pot at same height as stats. Heat water and stats will drop off tag wire around 143°. If they don't fall untill much higher temp or fall at all. Replace them.

Washer is definitely warped ordered new poppet kit, thermostats and water pump hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks so much to everyone for the advice, S n F my favorite web site!
