DA Sanders for Wet Sanding ?
I need to replace a dying electric DA sander and I want to go with a pneumatic that could also be used for wet sanding gelcoat. I like to buy tools just once, and was therefore looking at one of the lower-end Dynabrade sanders (USA-made):

I can't justify a full-blown industrial sander for the amount I'd use it.
Questions for the glass gurus (Xstream ? FUJIMO ?):
1) Will one of these hold up to wet use (like me misting the gelcoat with a spray bottle) if I blow it all clean and dry right afterwards ? One of the full blown wet-sanding versions would be overkill and almost doubles the price.
2) Which size orbit is best for swirl-free gel coat finishing ?
Thanks,
Matt

I've been wet sanding with my $50 craftsman DA; figure just don't get it too wet and it's fine, still just use a hose to spray down, sand, spray down, sand, etc.

Used this type for years. Not an official wet sander, but does well at it. Random orbit and clip on wet sand paper capable. Just ran a small hose for water. https://www.grainger.com/product/21A...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Your first sander is a good choice - get a shutoff as well . A lower profile palm sander and a pad - soft to medium . Add some rolls of 1000 - 1500 - 2000 . Depends on condition of gel or paint being worked on . Some sheets of the same grit for blocking as well or a whole sleeve of

xstream we used those for body work exclusively as well. Quite a bit faster than a true DA and you can work into the bevels and edges better with the straight leading edge. For any fine work and wet sanding we always did it by hand using a variety of blocks and semi rigid foams. I like the small 1/4 sheet brown rubber ones like this the best
