I am all full of $hit! er uh videos. The upper two V stacks are the same and could be scanned... The lower houses the control cables... And just a bit more complex.

This thing would run 95 all day long.

keefallan, what’s the difference between the 235xp in the video and my 1982 Johnson 235 I’m putting on my Ventura? Performance wise I’m asking.Click image for larger version.

If its a true XP motor, then the porting is a little more radical than yours. Its actually the 2.6 xp/gt motor. It makes 240-245 hp(if I remember correctly) whereas the 235 never quite made 235. I'm sure that others on here know exactly how much hp a stock 235 made.

It also has high compression heads whereas your engine doesnt have them. But if you can find 'em........ they bolt right on......needs a jet change though.

thanks, I’ll have to keep an eye out for those heads. I’m guessing all the V6 crossflow Xp/gt motors have those heads. I see a lot of these motors for sale with a cylinder down from crap gas or dirty carbs or people just don’t know how to mix gas anymore and they don’t want to fix them. I think a lot of them end up in the landfill if they don’t have any luck parting them out.

only the 235 has those heads......its a big bore version of the others. the other gt/xp motor (150) has its own high compression head for a small bore motor. the early 235's were a small bore motor. In 1980, OMC came out with a large bore 235 block. It was also used on the late 80's 175 and 175 gt/xp. But those motors didnt have the high compression heads.

I see, might not be so easy to hunt them down then.

    thanks Lynn.

I’ve been too busy putting miles and miles on my “shrimp”, pork chop, whatever you guys are calling it these days to bother to check back on the dookie I dumped in here last week.

I was beyond mildly entertained that it went 6 pages.

maybe my disdain for the old mixed gas junk from yesteryear started with the 1970 6hp that my great granddad bought new. It’s still hanging on the wall, where it belongs. A piece of history. It got me up and down the river plenty of times, but I always felt terrible for the rainbow of gas and oil it left on the water when I primed the bulb.

30+ years ago when I took hunters safety class, and then bow hunters safety, every single one of the instructors told us, bring more back with you than you brought.

pick up that can, pick up that trash.....

the oil and gas residue is pretty hard to clean up.....

ive been taught for a long time to leave it nicer than I found it.

my guess is that most of you have heard this also.

why leave that rainbow in the water?

does it honor the values taught to you by your elders?

personally, the electric deal to me is a joke. The mining, the disposal, the lack of infrastructure, these are questions that do not have viable answers.
I cautiously hope that hydrogen will become more viable and safe.

    who the hell knows.

but it sure was fun to toss a M-80 into the high school ****ter.

    Oh, btw,....

there’s a banjo playin inbred up the canal from me with a “2.4 litre” pile of crap that barely runs precariously bolted to a clapped out old gambler. I’ve been fogged by it 2x’s while enjoying my coffee in the morning. Wish he’d buy better oil.

it really sucks because I pay him to mow my grass......
