    Want a hydrofoil?

    These things are way cool.

For a short time they had one between Pelee Island and Leamington Ontario On Lake Erie.

I ran beside it leaving Pelee one time, while it raised up onto its foils.
    An amazing site!

There were recent stories of current recreational attempts.

To that end, I can’t get past the needed draft for a small boat, and trying to dock one w/the foils sticking 4’ outside your boat!
    As in, between dock posts!

But, I think, like hovercrafts, there’s an application for them...

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Back for Y2K we went over to Freeport for a little respite. We traveled from West Palm Beach FL on a Boeing Hydrofoil. I was pretty sure we wouldn't be able to make the crossing because the seas were 3 to 5 on the inside, which means inside 20 NM here in FL.

The vessel was amazing. As wide as a jumbo jet inside. I think 4 or 5 seats in the center rows, and 4 on each outer set. There were less than 20 people on board.

I took along my Garmin handheld and the foil climbed up on top of the slop and ran 55 knots and it felt like a jumbo jet! Smooth as silk. Way cool!
