280 Dying when getting on plane?

Went out last weekend with my 280 for the first time, the motor ran great for the first hour!
Stopped and floated for fifteen minutes or so, cranked it up a couple times to idle out closer to the bank.
When we left the motor cranked up and got on plane , ran for about a mile at 5000k and it died like someone turned the key off.
I was able to restart but when trying to get on plane it died again immediately as if the key was shut off.

Before hitting the water in preporation for the season I put a new Bosch fuel pump on, new fuel line and new pre and post pump filters.

I got a tow in, I looked for anything loose and fuel leaks but all looked good.

Anyone have any idea of what to look for on a 280?

    Thanks Stoney

    TPS or ECU

Put a volt meter or DDT on the motor and watch the throttle position and see if it is dropping off or doing funny fluctuations. I've seen them trip out at certain rpms.
Worst case the ECU is corrupting.

Were you watching your fuel pressure? Any way that pump could've been cutting out? I know they are loud, but at 80 mph you can't hear them in every boat. Sounds like your fuel pump cut off or that tps is failing.

I don't have a fuel pressure guage, I did barrow one and look at the pressure when on the hose. It was holding 39 psi I have good wiring and good voltage to the pump but anything is possible when running.

I will look at the the TPS with my DVM.

    Thank's Stoney!

Need to figure out whether to look left or right...fuel or electrical. I have a long test wire that I use to find those kind of problems It has 3 LED's on one end and bare wires on the other. I connect it to an injector, a coil and the fuel pump. Go for a drive and see which one stops lighting up. I've never used it in my boat but tracked down lots of car problems with it. You could do the same thing with a 12v test light but one at a time. That's how I used to do it but decided it would be much faster to check 3 things at once. Of course that doesn't cover a fuel flow issue but at lease you can find out if the pump is running.

All 6 plugs would have to be very fouled to make it shut off.....................
