Argh..can't seem to upload pics direct from my phone ..the Save and Cancel buttons disappear after I select my file to upload. I'll have to do it later tonight. Had to scrap the two outboards on one stand idea. Was a bit sketchy....narrowed it to a single. Now to build a second stand..

OK. Managed to load some pics up here. Looks to me like an oil line was removed? This doesn't look like its done right....
I haven't had time to play with it yet. I am working on the boat its going to go on (1992 Mastercraft Barefoot 200) assuming it runs ok .
Based on masking time and marks on it around the flywheel, compression markings on the cylinders, and oil line disconnected...I bet it needs some attention. I did question the PO on this and he did say it wasn't running right. Mechanic put a new stator in and when he last used it it just didn't seem to have enough power but idles ok.79 Baja 16SS w/ 79 115 Merc

If you're thinking there's an oil line removed at the brass tee degree fitting that leads to the top of the oil tank, there's not. It looks like a tee but it's just a 90 degree.

Trivialpursuits Ill take a better pic but its not just a 90 degree I dont think its just a 90, but I could be wrong. Either way it was disconnected and a bolt put in the hose end to plug it.

the bolt end goes to the rigging tube and then the remote oil tank on the boat.
there is a small brass nub that hangs down from the 90. It may serve a check valve function or something but it is not connected to a hose.

trivial - Ahh, ok. I think that description of the fitting makes sense. For some reason I had it in my head there was no remote oil tank on the boat as the oil tank on the engine was all that was needed. Is the motor oil tank just a back up should the remote boat tank get low? That would explain the valve function in the 90 fitting.

The motor mounted tank is kept full at all times as long as there is oil in the remote tank. Pressure from the crankcase pressurizes the remote tank and forces oil up a pickup tube, through the hose that would connect where that bolt was placed. Running with just the motor mounted tank would maybe give you an hour of runtime and you'd have alarms going off as soon as the level dropped below 3/4 full or so.

Thanks for that I do. As I me tioned on the beginning I am a newbie with these setups. So I guess there should be two hoses running between the motor and the remote tank. One being the pressure line and the other being the line connection to the link me where the bolt is. Thanks again. Great help.

Correct, that end is left as is, not connected to anything. If the tank on the motor is full then a test fire should be fine. I wouldn't run it long that way though, because the tank is going to develop negative pressure in it which could adversely affect oil flow to the pump.

According to your serial number that motor has o-ring heads and CDM ignition, which means it’s 2001+ motor.
Thise compression numbers would be low but since you don’t know how they were done I would ignore them and do you’re own test. Motor warm (if it runs), butterflies open and spark plugs out with spark leads grounded. And a fully charged battery.

interesting. I might look at adding something to supply a small amount of air pressure to the tank then. nothing crazy, just a slight positive pressure.

interestingly he told me it was a 2005, but that cowl doesn't match. Maybe I got a Frankenstein lol Not that a different Cowl is a big issue. Ill try test firing it this weekend and see what happens. Ill shoot a video around the power head and running if it starts and post a youtube link. Thanks FW

Can't be a 2005. 2002+ was the final version of the EFI motors and they had a single "555" PCM on the side of the motor, not the separate fuel / ign ECMs on the back side.
