Here is a photo of the cylinder that I thought the piston may have bottomed out on due to the marks at the bottom of the cylinder but no damage to the bottom of the piston.Click image for larger version.

There was a cage or bearing retainer around the bearings , but those definitely made contact with the bearing surface on the rods .

    That’s the plan at the moment , I did find a complete 1990 GT 100 locally that I may get very cheap . And a sweet looking 1982 115 seahorse , I even found a 70’s 85hp for 20 bucks .
I haven’t had much time to find a machine shop yet , I have two connections , a Ford guy and a Chevy guy , The Chevy guy took a year to build a $20k stroked 454 for a friend of mine’s boat so he into boats but not sure if he will do a Johnson , lol.

Would it be possible for the 1990 GT100 powerhead to be dropped onto my 1993 housing ?
The driveshaft , crankshaft and outer exhaust housing seem to be the only different part numbers between the years.

the 1990 gt will drop on the 1993 housing you just need to use the 1990 lower unit.
