While Elon is a once in a generation innovator / genius he is not a top AI scientist. His work on neural networks, which aren’t really neural networks, they emulate neural networks, is primarily the fruit of a number is very talented engineers and scientists working for him. What he brings to the table is massive out of the box thinking that can take those talented people into areas of investigation they cannot get to on their own. His views on AI are certainly valid but they assume progress is made in classical systems and our understanding of how natural intelligence works. The major flaw, and what will prevent AI as being engineered today from ever reaching the “skynet” level is actually its reliance on classical systems. You need to step into the Quantum realm to explore consciousness which can never happen within a classical system.

ai and all that crap is just statistics and anything else we programmed them to do.
self driving cars are going to crash and run over people, just get used to it.
they will only work playing in their own turf when all of the moving the moving objects are other self driving cars that are all aware of each other.
