    Help identifying this block

    No idea what this is. Serial number on block comes back as a 50hp? It is a 2.4 but I don't recognize these ports.

    Block is stamped with a single S

    Looks like 2.4 xr4 steel sleeve

    Looks to me like it was sleeved with a horrible sleeve job. Looks to be a typical finger port 2.4 200 sleeves in tha wrong block

    All cylinders are the same as far as sleeves to ports. I don't know much about the 2.4's so that would make sense why I didn't recognize it. I'm just trying to determine if the block is even worth selling or scraping. No holes in it anywhere just some scoring on one cylinder. Front half is very nice also.

    thats typical XR4 from merc.. built in june of '89.. tha first coupla years were tha worst.

    Really!? thats merc sleeving? Its like they made a 200 steel sleeve and they it in a 150 block....

    think thats tha first and only factory steel sleeve 2.4 they built and it shows......
