Jetting on Mercury
Im starting to get confused on this jetting. WH-46 carbs need to be fat on #2 and #6 with no vent jets. Correct?

Thanks for the charts Tommy, but the reason I brought this up is, some people say 1 and 5 are fat and some people say 2 and 6. Im pretty sure looking at the carbs with airbox off, top right and bottom right are fat.

normally merc made 2 and 5... for some reason they quite doin' it on some of tha wh's as yu see with tha 46's on tha chart...
think tha "1" and "6" deal started with someone havin' a "better idea"......Last edited by tlwjkw; 04-06-2021 at 06:02 AM.

seemed ta me that 5 (although 2 is right up there with it) and 6 ran tha hottest.. thats why tha hot rods add tha water supply ta tha heads right above 5 and 6.... jmo.

I second the 1 and 5 thing. Thats how mine was set up from the factory (2.4 200) and it seemed to burn perfectly with 1 and 5 0.002 fatter. BUT it is always best to run it up on the ramp, kill it and look at the plugs. Plugs don't lie.
I also seem to recall seein a 2.5 set up with them all even and its plugs looked good.

On the 2.4. It's definitely 2 and 5 is hot cyls , there will also b no vent jets in carbs for those holes and bigger jet in unmolested carb. The 2.5 is little different on hot cyl depending on motor. I believe the stock 46 jetting was 52 idles and 80s and 82s in 2 and 5. With no vents in 2 and 5 , also the 2.4 uses more fuel than the 2.5 because behind liner porting, so it's able run same hp with less fuel. Beating dead horse cause most yall know that already. P.s. my bass boat motor runs all 86s, burn is to close to say one is fatter than other. They all little fat tho
