15 spline spacer washer for Mercury small ear chopper needed
I have just drilled out the small ear chopper prop from an old inline 6 115HP so it will fit on my V6 Johnson lower unit. I got it to fit perfect with the weed cutters about 1/4" inside the gear case BUT now I need a 15 splined spacer to go between the Mercury chopper prop and the prop nut AS WELL as an OMC tapered thrust washer with step in it to fit into the backside of the Chopper. There are about 3/8 or so splines that will need to be addressed to fill in the space so the nut will get tight on the prop. I can make up some other space with a regular washer after that spacer if needed but it would be nice to just get a spacer to fill it all in. The prop fits perfectly up to the gearcase now with the weed cutter fingers slightly into the housing and I have about an inch or a little more of splines left in the Mercury chopper pressed in hub to carry the load so that looks to be good. I have a couple 15 spline spacers but the are too large diameter to fit inside the Mercury chopper pressed in fingered hub center area which is only 1.5" across. What should I be looking for to make this fit properly? --- This is the spacer I currently have but it is too big across to fit inside the chopper front recessed area --- I could have a machine shop mill down the thrust washer I have to fit the back of the prop and the spacer to fit too but I was hoping for an off the shelf solution that is tried and true. I know LOTS of people have put choppers on V6 OMC's

Woooooo... way too much babbling... do you have a proper thrust washer? There's so much talk about it that we don't even know if you have a thrust washer on the shaft or not. I have everything ya need but dont know what you already have....

Have one cut down and save all thrush washer you come across and maybe you'll get lucky and not have to cut one down next time.

I do NOT have the PROPER thrust washer. I do NOT have the PROPER splined spacer. I DO have a properly drilled old inline 6 Mercury chopper prop with a pressed in hub that fits perfectly on my 1985 185hp Johnson WITH the weed cutters still in tact that fit perfectly 1/4" inside the OMC housing.

Ok. Im still lost at how you think you can have the weed cutters fiting perfectly if you don't have a thrust washer yet.
Send me a PM with a text number and I will send you some pics of all you need

PM sent - thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! I drilled the splines and left a little over an inch of splines. I then slid the prop on the V6 OMC shaft to where it bottomed out on the shaft splines to make sure the weed cutters sat just inside the gear case housing - it spins freely with no close calls anywhere.
