Journey from Turkey farm, Woodstock and toward Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).

Gregg played at Woodstock with Santana, and then later leaves the Santana band, to form a new band.

The band Journey has its origin with guitarist Neal Schon and Gregg.

Santana and Gregg lift the spirits of Woodstock attendees,
with the band members driving energy, rhythm and solos.

Later Journey needs some new infusion into the, not so successful band.
They place a call to Steve Perry. And Steve leaves his turkey farm job, to join the band.
And musical chemistry rises, and the band Journey starts to make history.

Later all is not calm and not without friction in the popular band. Steve (not Joe) Perry and his then girlfriend travel to the concerts, separately from the rest of the Journey band.

A power struggle has been ensuing with Joe wanting more say, in the direction of the band.

Neal Schon wants to continue on as a pure rock band, and Steve wants to sing ballads. Open Arms, Faithfully and other Journey ballads were fan favorites. And the riff widens between band members.

And he left the band ... Separate Ways - Worlds Apart.

VKing .. permit me to respectfully disagree. I think Steve Perry's voice is a good rock voice.
He hits the high notes with ease and he delivers with clear pronunciation.

In this video Neal Schon. lead guitarist, takes the credit for finding Arnel Pineda.
But I heard something a little different.

A friend of the Journey band members, said you need to listen to this guy in the Philippines.
There are Youtube videos of this Philippine guy, covering the Journey songs and killing it.

And that is how Neal and the other band members, became aware of Arnel.
The new lead singer, and replacement for Steve Perry.
