    Chopper vs a Lightning ET

Does a Lightning ET cavitate and vibrate as much as a stock Chopper when you put a light boat on plane? This would be used on a 17' Vector with an OMC 2.6. Motor prop shaft about 1" above bottom of boat.

ET does much better at hooking up quickly on my V-King than a chopper.

pitch for pitch yes but in general if your running a higher pitch they will cavitate more because of the angle of the blades "slapping" the water so to speak.

the lower pitches 19-22 or so are the most effective pitches and generally most effecient .... but going back to your question the ET in general will hook up a little better on a light boat...

My big ear chopper digs a hole, stands the boat on end, fights like crazy not to move. But once it’s up on plane and hooked up? So much bite!

    GDP, "17 Vector Prop"

I'd give the lightening a try. I prefer the overall handling and performance of the Lightening ET on my Vector over the Choppers I have. I run solid mounts. The Lightening ET does not buzz or vibrate as much on my Vector.

The 4 blade over hub ProMax really takes the handling drama out of the ride in mine. This prop really surprised me. Calms the boat down. Carries the boat much better overall. Much more predictable in lake slop and rougher water. A tad slower on mine but not much.

Tempest will make you a believer in thru the hub props on a Stream. I run a 29p modded tempest on the King. Trophy, meh...Blades are too small imo. You need a large blade area to move a LOT of water.

Edit...Got the over and thru wrong on the tempest. My bad....Fixed it, gotta read my posts b4 sending...

I may be losing it, but it seems a couple folks here are confusing over hub and thru hub? Over hub would be an ET, Chopper etc. Merc tempest, trophy and promax would be thru hub. Or educate me.

Trophy Plus is both, like a Promax. Small barrel so if run without the blowout ring it passes exhaust over while also through the hub. I run a 25 trophy and love it!
