    Glastron CVX20 Project

    Hi Y’all,

    Those of you who has been on here for a while might remember my triple Monty powered Scarab 34SS. Well, two of the engines was sold and I was left with one engine, all the wiring, steering, gauges, etc etc. So I have been looking for a hull suitable for the parts that I have. I ended up with a Glastron CVX20. Picked it up in Cincinnati, but the boat is from Colorado. The beauty of it is that it is unmolested, all original, and complete. The not so good part is that all the wood is rotten, so I am doing a full restomod. It will be painted silver/white, with white interior. I will keep the look somewhat original, but coosa will replace all the wooden pieces and the stringers/transom will be modded to handle the OMC V8 with 400+ HP. Anyways, the boat is here, the hull and deck are split, and the rebuild is about to commence.

    I always liked that hull. I like the color combination of your boat. One of my buds is redoing a hull just like that. He's going to do the boat in candy apple red with a 200 merc on it

    My Dad bought a 1977 Outboard w1977 200 Evinrude the same color your going to paint yours. Beautiful boat. My advice would do do yourself a favor and fassion some sort of running pad on the sharp V keel.

    I sold a silver(metal flake)and white recently.Was painted all white when I got it.Ran it for 10 years.Should have kept it.
    If I knew it was going to last this long I would have taken better care of it.

    The mid section I received for free from the guy who bought my two Monty motors. I disassembled it and sent it all in for powder coating. I now have a spare 25” mid, and a 30” mid. Here it is being reassembled:

    Cool project! I like that crane too, I've never seen someone build something like that. Looks like it comes in handy.

    Looks like a fun project!

    A side note;
    I've had every flavor of cv and cvx. The 20 with a merc 225 3 liter is a handful at 70. Your gonna want to consider adding a pad or something. You definitely need single side hydro steering.

    Have fun!

    It will get side hydraulic steering, but I haven’t decided on what to do with the bottom yet. As is, its perfect for skiing and I would hate to screw that up. With 430HP I doubt much of that bottom will see water at WOT regardless so I’m not sure. The bottom will be painted white Awlgrip so easy to modify and cover up later on if it doesn’t work as is...
