Timing without flywheel degree marks
Hello All, I'm about ready to fire up a 2.4l that's been sitting for a long time, it has a non stock flywheel that has no marks other than A42R stamped on it, I've read the suggestion by Jay Smith about timing a 2.5l with a dial indicator {need a bigger hammer}. Question is can the same specs be used on a 2.4l. After 0,tdc, jay said turn ccl to .150" and you would be at 25 deg, .170" would be 27. Thanks for any info, don't want to run it without knowing timing, John

Jay is correct. Youll need a Pointer To correctly mark the Flywheel. I like to rotate the Flywheel past .150ths then rotate back to .150 making sure there is no slop (Dwell) between the crank and Rod movement.
