Electric pump, regulation and fuel/water filtration

    Hey guys

It seems like every time I'm here I write a novel.
    Sorry.

I've got an old 184 Champion. It has/had a 150hp OMC on it. The fuel pump failed and I couldn't get the rebuild kit before a tourney, so I installed a 73gph 4-7psi Electric. (tied into the kill so it also shuts down when the tether is pulled... before anyone jumps on that)

That motor has worked ok for me, but I haven't been overly happy with the performance.

So I invested in a 175hp 2.5L Mercury. I'm going to go through and freshen it up before I install it.

I was reading the spec for the Merc is 4.5psi. The OMC was 7.
Ok, I can add a fuel pressure regulator. Reading about them, the Non return style are cheaper, but aren't as good as the return style

The OMC had virtually no fuel filtration, so I added cute little filter.
I was looking at a Spin on style shown in the link below.

On that housing it shows 2 inlets and 2 outlets.
If I get a fuel pressure regulator that has a return, can I return fuel to the other Inlet of that fuel filter housing?

    Thanks

Non-return regulators work fine on carburated engines. There's no fuel pressure in the float bowls.
