Name:	cracked pinion.jpg
Views:	9
Size:	288.9 KB
ID:	485850Ive pulled my case to bits and are going through it.
Would it be typical to have a 43 44103-1 pinion matched with a 44 104/2 foreword gear ?
The pinion is cracked on the top side boss and both have a radial or perpendicular wear line about 5/16ths in from the large end of each tooth.
There are 2 cracks and one of them runs 1/16th down the side of the boss.
These wont be going back in.

I have several prop shafts but do not know where to find the part number on them or if it is on them anywhere.
    Is the lower a pre-load?

Hi Rock, Sam here, not sure i can help with identifying my prop shaft/lower unit, I'm a noob. But from what I have read... isn't a preload unit identified by having the pin sticking out of the top of the driveshaft? Problem is that its been over a year since I had it off and I just cant remember and i can't pull the lower right now to look. It's a 2:1 lower unit, stock 1994 2.0L Mariner 150 fishing motor s# 0B042790. Those were consumer motors so t's probably the weakest and cheapest of all available, LOL. Thank you, Sam

Any 20in 2.5 drive shafts left with good water pump base seal area in good condition? Also if you have a pinion with 15 teeth on the gear side and 13 teeth on the inside and it looks good i will take that also. Thanks for looking. LMK.

Darknet I owe you an apology as I did not see this post. I will look today but don't think there were any drive shafts left. I'll check for the pinion. Sorry. Gmann I will check today.
