5 Gallon Fuel Jug Caps
I have bought 5 gallon fuel jugs over the years from Jegs, Summit Racing, etc. The older style (square top) jugs have withstood the test of time/races and the caps spin on and off like they were new. The newer style (tapered tops) on the other hand have spin on caps that have gotten worse over time. I have gone from "spin", to "stiff/one handed", to "two handed stiff" to full-on strap wrenching. Does anybody know how to fix the problem? Galled / worn thread crowns on jugs? Dab of Vaseline on threads? Some sanding?

I've been using silicone grease on plastic fittings & threads: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Super-Lu...2003/202932697

If you had one new jug... if a new cap fits an old jug it's the caps, if an old cap fits a new jug, it's the jugs?

I avoid messing with plastic jugs nowadays, by simply buying my race fuel in 5 gallon cans and using this:
https://vpracingfuels.com/product/po...on-pail/?c=237
Easiest and quickest way to fill your regular street vehicle or race vehicle/boat fuel cell with race fuel without spilling a drop. Eliminates the need for separate storage containers, funnels, etc. Best damn invention ever.

I have the opposite problem, my caps always seem to split and crack and have to buy new ones every couple of years.

I went and ordered a kit on amazon, cap, hose with filter, new vent cap. i comment said it will fit a rci jug, some say yes. well, it doesnt fit my jugs [brand unkown] but i fits a tractor supply jug, and vp jug. most likely fit a rural king jug. its a black cap.
