    Mercury Waffle Group

I ran across this last week, seems like a great potential for scammers. Everything is a raffle. Chances sold then using another site they use Facebook live to show the process.Click image for larger version.

Would anyone do this? Like really, if you tryna gamble with your money wouldn't you spend it on an entry fee to do something fun..like go fast? Not watch someone else pull numbers?

Maybe. I've been following the group since day one. First "big" item I saw go was a 260 and the spots filled up FAST. I just saw yesterday the winner posted that it had arrived. In that pic you can see several built drop on powerheads on a workbench behind the newly acquired 260. Could've been a friend of the OP that was in on the take or it could have been a legit "waffle" winner. There's no way to know for sure I guess. Personally, I cant afford that kind of gamble with my money but it looks like there's no shortage of people that can. It's interesting to watch though. It would be nice to see that there's an unbiased 3rd party running the "waffle" instead of the OP. Its too easy for the OP to tell his buddy to buy a spot and guarantee he wins the way its currently set up. There's also the problem with "if I didn't win its gotta be a scam" mentality and droves of people filing claims with PayPal because they didn't receive the item. Maybe it will evolve into something good once the kinks are worked out but for now ill just eat my popcorn and watch from the sidelines. Sure would be nice to get a 260 for a hunnit though!

It was fun!! People like to gamble, pull tabs, raffles, whatever. 100.00 for a spot to win a 20K boat! And I don't think you would have 200 people send 100.00 each to a person who is unknown to most on those pages. You will get some, but there are people that would see that it is a scam and try to protect others.

It was fun? Did you buy a spot on the Allison? I think all the spots for it added up to 20K.

So far everyone that has posted a waffle in that group have been well known or recognizable names. I'm sure at some point there will be one that isn't. There are a ton of groups that are only for waffles about anything under the sun, it is not a new concept and yes some get ripped off but for the most part it has been going good. CDR waffled a cowl for the normal price, a 260 was waffled for the going rate, a 88 xb02 was just waffled for 200 spots at 100 a spot, now there is a waffle for a powers flywheel at 50 a spot and 24 spots.

I sure did. With all the bars closed I have not had my pull tabs or raffle fix lately!
