$60 for a rod bearing? WTH???

Rebuilding my 2.4. 5 cylinders look good. One had a melted piston with a hole in it. Got the new piston. Is a new bearing for that one dang piston end $60 dang dollars??? When can you replace needles vs the whole thing? If it's a stupid question, I'm asking. For a friend. Lol

    Thanks

It seems these days, ya have to pay the $60 dollars and be so happy to do so , that you give them an extra $20 .. because they deserve a bonus.

    OR ..

call Pro Marine and get one for a reasonable price ..

    941-721-3000

Send Dave a 6-pak , and he will send ya a full set ...

Actually...I just bought one new piston because the others are good. I don't know that the bearing is bad but I figured if it was up against a piston that melted down then it couldn't still be good. Interesting that you keep and reuse old bearings. This part is uncharted territory for me.

And for the $60, I'm in manufacturing and look at what's there and think $6 or maybe $16 but NFW on $60!!!

...nothings changed really. us older folks remember this from back in the seventies when we were into our street rod cars & working on them. it was always said, and was true, that a so & so chevy or ford cost $3,000. new...but to buy it in parts & assemble, it would cost $25,000...or whatever... nothings changed.

There might be a little luck involved . But I know for sure that the more I practice a daily vigilance , the less I need to try . And if my dumb azz can do it .. anyone can

Well maybe a little ... ya could buy a couple ~ few Mercury's for $25,000 , now ya can't buy one...
At the parts counter , they have become even more brazen .. they moved the comma to the left. $1,025,000.00 for a complete 300r porkchop ..

The good news is ... In less than a half an hour ... You'll "get" to wait another 24 hours before having to make that choice again ...
