Fuel pump should run for a few seconds. If not probably the driver. I know there is a way to bypass by adding a ground wire but you need to talk to someone that knows for sure.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge at the rail? Whats it reading?. Could have fouled the plugs if too much oil in fuel and been sitting

Driver, he is referring to the fuel pump driver circuit in the ECU.
Yes, with key on the high pressure pump should run for 20 or 30 seconds I think. During that time you should have 39 psi and then it will slowly leak down as time goes on and the pump is off. It does sound like the pump failed or the driver is down.
Take the 2 wires off the fuel pump and check to see if you get 12 volts at the pump when you key up. If not then the driver is down. If you have the power then something is wrong in the VST
You can bypass the driver to power the pump straight from the keep or put a separate switch on the dash...or send the ECU to be repaired.8' Yellow Jacket - 25 hp Mariner

Test light isnt the best unless it is one of the fancy ones that show voltage...you gotta make sure you have 12+ volts. Even so, a bad wire could provide 12 volts and not enough amperage...the Brucato is good but they still lose drivers. My ACU I have on a bridgeport lost the fuel pump driver while they were testing it at Brucato...I told them not to fix it cause I have a Bosch pump in the boat and don't need it...
you could leave them connected. To confirm though, you do not hear the pump tun on even with the cowl off?

Ground one terminal on vst pump, run a wire from the other lead to the purple wire off the engine harness. When you turn the key to "on" the pump should run, if it doesn't the pump is bad. They are known to go out. You are better off buying a whole vst than replacing just the pump.

ITS ALIVE! Im used to hearing my 2.4 220, where pump is outside the VST. the 225 is very quiet, had to remove cowl. She kicked off, after some cranking. cant thank enough for all the response, what a great brotherhood of HP boaters.
