I got one sitting in the back of my truck rn stuck in a tilt tube. I just swap the tilt tubes and forget about it. There's another one at the shop where I work that's seized. I freed one the other day with MAP and a big hammer. Jacked one nut getting it out, but it came out (yamaha 150 4s saltwater only).

I got it moving side to side some today. Still need to take a look at the steering in relation to the clamp and see it going together with the bolt in place. And haven't attempted to find a socket large and deep enough to fit the nuts on the tube if need be. Don't have anything near deep enough or large enough. Maybe 1 3/8 or something. Been super busy and haven't had much time to mess with it. Weekend is coming.

Art, if I wanted to remove and replace the entire tube and bolt. Went in my other garage where the boat and steering is and see now you can take the mounts off the steering ends and reassemble on the main bolt. Im just gonna do that. Got the bolt to move back and forth more but its gonna take a lot to get it all the way out. This is the first mid I've messed with that had the bolt seized. Ive always slid them right out. And got fixated on needing to take this one out too. But not worth the effort. Thanks for all the advice.

just put a big impact socket over the inner steering tube and belt **** out of it with a 4 pound hammer. it will move....
itsstainless steel inside a bit of ordinay steal and its just some limescale or calcium grabbing it.. dont be scared belt the ****er.
like it is its useless, as even if you want hydraulic steering you still want that rod to be able to spin in the through tube..

These hammers are great for stress relieving welds and surrounding zones in Aluminium hulls specially around Jet mounting blocks which tend to suck the hull into a large hook.
Just grind a radius on the end of the hammer.
Its possible to grow the hook right back out toward you.
    Very noisy though.

If you get to the point of just replacing the tilt tube, take the nuts off the old tilt tube, slide the new tilt tube over the rod up against the old tilt tube and use a rubber hammer against the new tilt tube to drive the old tilt tube out.....two minute job
