Go Fast prop for 21' Checkmate Starflite

I have an '89 Checkmate Starflite with a Yamaha 225 excel. I currently run a Mercury High 5 20 pitch for water skiing, good hole shot, turns great, 50 mph at 5600 rpm give or take. I have a bobs nose cone and a jackplate, what prop is recommended for 65 to 70 mph? Randy the Checkmate expert recommends a Trophy, is 26 pitch about right? Others recommend a chopper, again 26 pitch sound right? I'm mostly at Lake Mead at 1100 foot elevation.

My first choice used to always be a cheap used Trophy. Maybe 24?

I have an Eliminator 20 Sport with a 225 Promax. The hull would be similar hull to yours. My everyday prop is a 25 Trophy and can get 70mph out of it. I used to run a 26" chopper and wold get into the mid 70's but it was not fun to drive, tremendous steering torque. I pretty much stick with the Trophy now

I think a 3 blade Tempest 26P will be a couple mile quicker than the 4 blade Trophy on that boat. A hydromotive 4 blade would be another good option.

I had a 1992 186 Baja closed bow with a 25" Tempest that had a little work by Rich Booger and I could run in the high 60's at 6k RPM's. Power was a 1993 150 HP/2.0L Mercury with Boysen, G Force tuner and a hydraulic jack plate.

I have 6" setback (manual jack plate) how did it handle with a chopper? Lots of choppers for sale but I hear the handling is better with the Trophy.

you'll like the Trophy, I switched to one on my Pulse and it really helped to take the ugly out of the upper 60's. Handles so much better now.

21 starflite 03 225 optimax 12” manual jackplate 26 tempest plus boat runs 67 to 70 gps. Prop cavitates a lot when cornering. Hole shot is good. Would like to try trophy
