    How to ID 2.5 Sporty's

I just bought a used 2.5 SportMaster, 1.87, RH w/Swept Skeg, my question is, how does one ID a Sporty when a parts order is needed since there aren't any obvious marks, numbers etc on the case ?

I found a parts listing of Sporty's ranging from/to: OG367000 to OG856999, but again no way to ID what I have against these S/N's. Appreciate any help as this is very new to me.

    Thanks

It is my understanding they are all the same. Only differences is offshore case (skeg), LH or RH drive, gear ratio, 15" or 20" drive shaft.

As Brad said, other than the obvious differences, the early ones had a small prop shaft.

There are bearing differences in the fwd gear...no way I know how to tell other than taking it apart.
Is there a specific part you are looking to find the correct p/n? Just pay attention to all the parts, study the diagram and ensure it matches your unit perfectly prior to ordering.

Thanks all, Mine is a small shaft and has the swept skeg so I'll assume Early Offshore Case. I don't need anyparts as of now but just wanted to understand what I've got before a part maybe required down the road. Thanks again, appreciate it very much

As I understand it, the big bearing on fwd gear is a ratcheting case and the smaller bearing on fwd gear is non ratcheting. When in fwd gear if you able to turn prop by hand a get a click click in backwards direction its a ratcheting or big bearing housing
