Merc tech : 2.5l optimax tuning.

Hi , any good treads of information of knowledge of the different models and access of software to tune them to different states of tuning? Ultimately making a optimax drag from a 150 hp optimax... seems like reeds are smaller on the 150hp compared with the 200xs. 2 gen 200xs have 260 porting ? Whats the rpm/ HP limits of the optimax 2.5 system. Tweaking with higher air and fuel pressures?

There is software but very expensive, i know van ackeleyen in belgium has it
but turning a 150 optimax into an optimax drag?
you could use the SSt spec to copy that into the 150 ,get an 200XS ecu and fuel pressure regulator and maybe you get somewhere
my vote would be into making the 150 optimax into an actual steel sleeved drag
the block would need to be decked for gaskets or use 280 heads
install a front injection plate with the old ignition stuff brucato ecu and lots of oil can,s

The 2.5 opti (2005) is already a high strung deal making 247 HP and good torque due to the fact thats direct injected. The main reason they eat pistons is dentnation, they require fresh 93 to stay happy and Mercury only produced 100 of them.

I think you missed something here. He is trying to take his 150 Opti and turn it into something like the 2.5XS

I think a good start on this project would be to get the following parts. I don't know how the port timing or reeds are on the 150 vs the 2.5xs, but the following parts will be needed.

    1. 14 PSI fuel pressure regulator
    2. Red fuel injectors
    3. Grey air injectors
    4. 2.5xs ECM

this is an injector plate i was working on
plan was to build a custom carbon fibre downdraft intake in such a way you can custom tune the intake tract inside the plenum
this way the helmholtz effect would be there for the entire rpm and load range instead of only at full throttle
but as always earning money keeps getting in the way
